First Look: Michael Kors Makeup - Sexy Collection

Since I tweeted a photo of the Michael Kors makeup cartons on my Instagram last week I thought I'd give you all the information you need right here and now as well as giving you a few swatches to wet your whistle.

After rumours floating around for a while, Michael Kors finally launched his makeup collection a couple of months ago which was received really well amongst industry insiders and consumers. It stayed true to the brand with it's iconic gold logo and print, as well as taking inspiration from the jewellery and accessory line that we've all come to know and love.
The makeup collection is split in to 3 ranges; Sexy, Sporty and Glam, all of which have corresponding lip, cheek, nail and fragrances to match.

I was recently given a run down of the ranges and received the Sexy collection to test out and I have to admit that while I love the products, there is one minor downside which I'll go in to later.

The Sexy collection has equally sexy product names:
- Flush Bronze Powder
- Sexy Amber Perfume
- Siren Lip Lustre
- Bombshell Lip Lacquer

There are also 2 nail colours in the collection called Scandal, a vibrant fuchsia, and Sensation, a scarlet red - both of which I can't wait to get my hands on!

Swatches:
L-R: Flush Bronze Powder, Siren Lip Lustre and Bombshell Lip Lacquer

The Bronze Powder has a gorgeous pink sheen to it which is reminds me of NARS blush in Deep Throat but this is more finely milled and definitely has more bronze to it. It's a products I'd definitely use on the apples of my cheeks instead of going all over my face like I do with my usual bronzer.

When I first saw the colour of the Lip Lustre in the packaging I loved it because it is so bright but it doesn't translate as vibrant on the lips although the shimmer does come through when you wear it. I should point out that it does have a sticky texture so I wouldn't layer this on too much!

Now I love a good fuchsia lipstick as much as the next gal so this Lip Lacquer from MK did not disappoint because it isn't too bright and actually goes on quite sheer in one swipe so there is room to build it up, if you wanted to. There isn't any noticeable fragrance to it (I know some people hate that) so it'll be a shade for all.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that fragrances are always quite personal and smell different on everyone but the Eau de Parfum has quite a familiar scent to it that I'm still trying to place! The key notes include sandalwood, musk, orange, mandarin and white florals - all of which combine to create a warm perfume which is ideal for nippy autumn nights.

I love the whole collection from Michael Kors and I'm pretty sure that once you've all had a glimpse of the products and swatched them in stores, you will too. The only problem that I had with it was the gold casing because while it looks luxurious in the photos and on first glance, it's actually plastic. I was hoping that it would all be housed in metal casing that would be quite weighty and add to the opulence so I was a little surprised to feel that it's all plastic and, in my opinion, makes it feel a bit cheap.

Will that stop me from buying other products in the range? Hell to the no!
I have my eye on the other Bronze Powders as well as the Body and Sun range, especially the Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil Spray.

Prices: Bronze Powder - £34, EDP - £38 for 30ml, Lip Lustre - £21, Lip Lacquer - £23, Nail Lacquer - £15

The full makeup collection is available now at selected House of Fraser stores and online from the House of Fraser website, the fragrances are available nationwide.

What do you think? Is this a collection you're now itching to get your hands on or will you pass?
