Recently my standard makeup routine has been chopping and changing a lot because the weather has been so bloody confusing. From hot and humid to wet and windy, I think most women are just about as confused with how to do their makeup as they are with picking which shoes to wear to work. I've found myself neglecting my usual ammunition of full on slap for a more simple and easy to work with look, which I've aptly called 'The Five Product Face'. Genius, I know.
These are the five products I've been using to give me my finished Simple Sally look for days when I just can't be bothered...
*Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate
*Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in Bisque,
*Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium
Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in Black
*Pur Minerals Pressed Mineral Makeup in Blush Medium.
The finished look...
Easy, breezy, beautiful... Well, scratch the last one but easy and breezy is definitely the look I'm going for.
After I saw Laura of BuyNowBlogLater say she was going to try and get her makeup routine down to the bare minimum, I thought I'd give it a try and let me tell you - It was not easy! I didn't actually realise how much makeup I was applying until I had to cut the products out so instead of my usual paint and spackle that I have nailed down, I had a chance to play with products that I hadn't really given a lot of time to.
For example, the Pur Minerals mineral powder was a surprise entry in to the mix because it is apparently meant to be a 4 in 1 product. Apparently, it's meant to be a foundation, concealer, blush and bronzer all in one. It isn't. It's a pressed mineral powder. However, it's quite a nice mineral powder and while I don't really favour the packaging because it's quite chunky, the powder goes on with ease and there isn't a lot of fall out off of the brush.
The other products in the round up have been long time favourites that I have been using for a while now and whether I'm using them as part of my 'Five Product Face' or not, they have been staples in my collection and will continue to stay there.
Have you got a 'Five Product Face' that you've mastered? What products do you rate to give you that Simple Sally look? Let's hear it!
