IMATS 2013

This weekend saw IMATS roll in to Kensington Olympia so I nipped down there yesterday for a gander and picked a few bits up. Now, I've been to IMATS before a couple of years ago when it was still being held at Ally Pally so I knew what I was getting myself in for when I decided to go over there but for those of you who don't know, I'll explain. IMATS stands for International Makeup Artist Trade Show and it has been around for years. It was the one stop shop for UK makeup artists to replenish products in their kits for a fraction of the price as well as pick up products from harder-to-find brands from the U.S, like Naked Cosmetics and Make Up For Ever. However, a lot has changed since then and while it is predominately makeup artists who are found elbowing their way around IMATS, more and more beauty product fans have cottoned on to the show and are now out in full force every time it rolls in to town.

I'm not going to go in to too much detail about the show as I'm sure you've seen the countless tweets about how much it has downsized since its' time at Ally Pally but after a quick walk through to scout out the brands and see if anything caught my eye, I settled on Make Up For Ever and Crown Brush. There were some good discounts from NARS (60% off), NYX (not sure as the queue was HUGE) and Inglot (30% off, I think) I avoided the madness and went straight to the ones that I had planned.

This is what I came home with...
Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer in shade 10 - I picked one of these up for Yinka of Vex in the City so figured that if it is good enough for her then it is good enough for me!

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ in shade 40 - I've been after a good matte foundation so picked this one up but I'm not sure if the shade will be spot on because the MUA had to match me over a counter and the lighting was dodgy but I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Crown Brush brushes - I don't know the exact names or codes of these brushes but I bought two eyebrow spoolies, one duo fibre foundation brush and two synthetic fibre brushes to use for tidying up my paintjobs.

That was it. I browsed pretty much all of the stands but came back empty handed because I have too much makeup as it is and didn't really 'need' anything so I'm quite proud of myself!

Did you go to IMATS? If you did, what did you buy?
