It's been a while since I've posted a 'Products I've Used Up' post so all of these products have been finished for about 2-3 months now but sheer laziness has stopped me from sitting in front of my laptop to write up the content and edit the photos. Sorry about that!
I've included a speedy review on all of the products which highlights all of the important things that you would all probably want to know but if there is something specific you would like to know that I haven't covered, ping me an email and I'll be happy to answer you.
TRESemme Argan Oil Salon Sleep Straightening Spray - Available from supermarkets, Boots and Superdrug stores nationwide
As much as I love using hair products I always find it quite difficult to comment on whether or not I found they've made a massive difference because my hair has a mind of its own. It is weak at the roots because it falls out A LOT but it is actually quite strong otherwise so you can imagine what a pain in the bumcheeks it is to find products that work. This straightening spray was what I was using on my hair after washes and before blow drying/straightening and although it was nice, it's not at the top of my repurchase list. I found that it left my hair quite lifeless and flat which made it look like I hadn't even washed it. It did the job but that was about it for me.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Cleanser - Available from Kiehl's website
This is a fab face wash for those who have mega oily skin like me and struggle to find something suitable on the High Street. The oil-free formula means that there's no residue left on your skin and it works to help regulate the pH levels instead of working against them. I found that during winter my skin felt a bit tight after using it so I skipped it for a while and used a different cleanser or, on the days I would use it, I'd apply a hydrating overnight masque or night cream to help keep my skin comfortable. I have since repurchased and will continue to do so because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream - Available from Kiehl's website
Now this product had me split down the middle because as I couldn't get with the gel texture having used cream-based formulas for pretty much the last few years since I started the blog. It was a bit of an alien concept to me but made sense because it doesn't have the emollients that a normal cream would have and therefore end up sitting on the surface of your skin. I have to admit that this is probably the best summer moisturiser that I've used as it kept the shine away for long enough before I needed to blot away excess oil with blotting tissues. The only downside is the smell but the results defiinitely outweigh it and I plan to repurchase it when it gets warmer. Well, IF it gets warmer.
Origins A Perfect World - Available from Origins website
Similar to the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, this product has me sitting on the fence because I'm not quite sure if it is for me and that's probably because it's main focus is anti-ageing as opposed to oil control. Yes, it is an oil-free formula (something that I always try go for when picking a moisturiser) but it didn't really make any signifcant difference to my face. Yes, it is a nice moisturiser and there weren't any major problems with it but my main concern at the moment is controlling the oilyness of my skin as opposed to fine lines and wrinkles so it was a case of wrong timing.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter - Available from The Body Shop website
I'll let you in on a secret, I had never tried a Body Shop Body Butter before I received this one a while ago. Shocking, I know. I think it's a rite of passage that every woman should have, at some point in her life, purchased or used one of these but it skipped past me. I remember always sniffing them when I was younger and always thinking the strawberry one smelt of Calpol but I never purchased them because my Mum used to bulk buy Nivea Soft so that was my go-to. However, once I cracked into this tub, I liked everything about it and now know why it has been around for 25 years and is one of the bestselling scents in the whole range.
There is going to be another 'Products I've Used Up' post going up very soon because I've just gotten through another whole load of makeup and hair products so keep an out for that.
How many products have you used up recently? I'm on a roll so am going to try and make my way through the bits that I have before repurchasing. Well, I'm going to try anyway!
Until next time...

*PR SAMPLES*
I had the exact same issue with the TRESemme product. It left my hair slightly lank and I always had to use a volumising spray to bring it back to life again. I am currently using the GHD one and loving it. It protects the hair, leaves it shiny, and gives it a little bounce!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog :)
Stop by mine when you get a chance.

Hi Salli, thanks for the comment and I'm kind of glad that I wasn't the only one who found that the TRESemme product left hair a little limp.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely try the GHD one when I get a chance. x
Been following your blog since the beginning of 2013. LOVE IT almost as much as you love makeup.. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion for you.. why not try 100% Organic Virgin Argan Oil. I used to use a brand called Moroccan Oil, it had loads of raves but left my hair greasy and it contained silicone which is a no-no for curly, wavy hair.
I also tried Gleau nourishing oil but it wasn't all that on my hair, my body loved it.
At the moment my hair is really in AWE with simply 100% pure organic virgin argan oil that is not mixed or blended with anything.
I got a small sample from anitagrant.com for under £2.00 and I LOVE IT!
The aroma of pure organic virgin argan oil is not to everyone's taste but it wears off and leaves my hair shiny. So soft, bouncy & shiny. So shiny that the shine from the sun ain't got a hope when I'm swishing my wavy curls. I apply it as either a pre-shampoo or after I shampoo.
I skip the conditioner and just run a small finger nail size or virgin argan oil through my wet mane - then either blow dry or air dry.
Give it a try!
BTW - have you tried the new mineral powder foundation from Anita Grant called Hello Beautiful?
I bought a sample - again for under £2 and it is fantastic! Great coverage - long wearing! I used to use Bobbi Brown but wanted a more natural alternative.
Must go before I write you a novel of suggestions.
