Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

I love bold and bright lippies but sadly I don't have the balls to pulll them off on a daily basis, purely because I'm not always dressed for a power lip. Yes, PR people are meant to be glammed up to the nines all the time but the agency where I work is a little more chilled out than some of the other brands/agencies out there and I spend most of my days in jeans and trainers or jeans and Uggs. This is also one of the reasons that I don't do outfit posts because I pretty much wear the same thing every day, with a different top of course! On the days where I do feel a power lip is in order, I've been reaching for one of these new lip lacquers from Rimmel and they definitely do not disappoint because some of these shades mean serious business.

Available in 8 shades (I forgot to photograph one of them but it's a peachy one), the lip lacquers are a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss but without the stickiness of the latter. Although there are only 8 shades, they do cover pretty much all the bases with a nude, light pinks, brighter shades and a berry.

The doe-foot applicator has a little "micro-reservoir" which means you get smooth application without any gloopiness because it isn't overloaded with product.

Swatches:
Sorry for the lack of on-the-lip swatches but like I mentioned in my previous post, I've got really sore lips right now and applying 7 different lacquers and scrubbing each one off wouldn't have done them any good so back-of-the-hand swatches will have to do. However, Fleur of FleurDeForce has some pretty good lip swatches of them so you should take a look at her blog if you want to see how they look.

On first glance, I was immediately drawn to Stellar (an orange-pink) because it was bright and caught my eye from first swatch but after having a play around with them I've actually taken to Celestial (a pinky-brown) because it gives a "my-lips-but-better" kind of effect which I absolutely love. I didn't really take to Nude Eclipse at all because it looks a bit too washed out on my lips or Galaxy because I'm not big on the purple lip trend but the others are all winners in my book.
The only downside to these is they don't last very long which is a bit of a shame because they had some serious potential and although they tick all the other boxes, longevity is always a buzz word for me because I prefer a lip product that I don't have to top up every hour. I guess you can't have it all but Rimmel defintiely came close with these so hats off to them because there isn't anything else like them on the High Street.

You can buy all of these shades and the one missing shade in Luna from Boots and Superdrug stores for £5.99 each.

Are there any shades that caught your eye?

Until next time...
