NOTD: Givenchy Le Vernis 'Pourpre Defile'

Everywhere I look at the moment all I see if leather (or pleather in most cases) and studs on everything. Whether it's small detailing on a shirt or the whole hog on a pair of shoes, it's a trend that isn't going anywhere in a rush so it was only a matter of time before a beauty brand encorporated both into a product. Enter Givenchy.
The premium fashion and beauty brand sexed things up with their SS13 collection of lipsticks and nail polishes by casing them with leather, thus making them a little more luxurious to use and look pretty on a dressing table. Because leather cased beauty products always look nicer than the average MAC lipstick, let's be honest!

I was sent a lipstick and nail polish from the collection to try out so I thought I'd take you the nail polish first because the colour is pretty damn gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

Similar to O.P.I 'Lincoln Park After Dark', this Givenchy number in 'Pourpre Defile' is a deep crimson that is borderline black from afar but is so gorgeous that I don't think I could ever get bored of it. Shades like this and the O.P.I version never go out of fashion or season because they look good all the time and tend to go with everything, which is why I think every woman should have this kind of colour in her stash as her backup.
It's always difficult for me to comment on how long a nail polish lasts before it chips or I see significant tip wear because I change them so often. If it's not every day then it's every other day and sometimes three times a day but I did manage to keep 'Pourpre Defile' on for three days during which time I had no chips or tip wear so it held up quite well. My go-to quick dry topcoat at the moment is by Revlon and I have had no issues with it whatsoever so if you're in the market for a new one and are tired of your Seche Vite going gloopy on you then I highly recommend the Revlon one. It's much cheaper and easier to find if you usually pick up your beauty bits on the High Street.

The new Givenchy polishes are available in seven shades inspired by Haute Couture fabrics for £14.50 each and you'll be able to pick them up from Selfridges and large department stores this month.

On the note of failsafe shades, do any of you have certain polishes that never let you down?

Until next time...
