While perusing the aisles at Boots a couple of months ago, I came across these Maybelline Colour Show Nail Stickers and was instantly drawn in to the zebra print glitter design. I'm a sucker for animal prints and these were different to the other nail wraps/stickers that I had so I thew them in my basket and prayed I'd be able to apply them. Now I know that applying nail wraps aren't really difficult but seeing as I'd never used any before, I wasn't quite sure if I'd have a steady enough hand to play around with them but figured it couldn't be too hard.
I picked up the design Zebra Night...

The application steps were pretty straight forward:
1. Clean nail so there's no oil or moisture on nail bed
2. Find the sticker size that is right for the nail
3. Lay the sticker on the bare nail and starting from the cuticle, apply a little pressure over the entire surface so it adheres
4. Fold the excess over the edge and use a nailfile to remove the overhanging wrap
I followed all of the steps and this is how my nails looked:
Okay, so they don't look like a professional applied them but I don't think I did too bad for my first try. I'm not quite sure why they didn't stick down on the edges but I'm assuming it's either my nail shape or they weren't the right size for my nail.
This is what I mean...

Another disappointment was that they only lasted a day because of general wearing from showering, washing dishes and tapping away at a computer.
The wraps started to come away from my nails around the edges and from the tip so I had to peel them off because I got so irritated. Also, as you have to file off the excess sticker, you end up with a rough edge around the nail top so it makes it easier for it to come away or to catch on your clothes therefore only making them them last a day or two.
In all honestly, I think all nail wraps are probably best suited for a night out or a big party because if they start to wear after only one day, there's not much value for money in them even if they do look really good. I don't think nail wraps are for me but if you're looking for something a little more eye catching than an average paint job for a big party, I would definitely recommend them.
I bought the Maybelline Colour Show Nail Stickers from Boots and they were priced around £6.99 but there are loads of other brands out there with similar ones but different designs so have a look around your local Boots or Superdrug.
What are you thoughts on nail wraps? Did you think they're worth it?
Until next time...

I love them! Given me an idea for a zebra mani too :)
ReplyDeleteIve never used this Maybelline wraps before, they look really good.I bought a couple of packs of cheapo ones from Poundland a few months ago to practice they were actually quite good and lasted ages, well over a week
I'm a budget beauty girl and trawl Poundland regularly as you can often find some hidden gems amongst the tat
Oh that's disappointing that they only lasted a day. These are so pretty. I tried nail wraps for the first time last month and any wee gaps at the nail bed really annoyed me.
ReplyDeleteI guess these would be good for a night out though.
