I'm never really one for doing haul posts but I picked up a few gems today so thought they definitely deserved a bit of blog loving as well filling you all in on my finds in case you were interested in some of the bits. I very rarely shop on my local High Street because I spend 90% of my time around the Oxford Street area while I'm at work so am always popping in to Boots and Superdrug to see what's new and what I need in my life but I'm glad I hit the High Street today because I picked up some pretty good bargains.
I'll start with the Sally Hansen nail polishes because they're probably the most bargainous. Caroline of Vocaltest Instagrammed a photo of some Sally Hansen nail polishes last week and surprised everyone by saying she found them in Poundland. Now, I had heard the rumour before that Sally Hansen nail polishes were in there, I didn't really believe it and it didn't make me want to go and check either but when I saw the shades Caroline had picked up it definitely changed my mind. My local Poundland only had 4 colours (the 3 you see in the photo and a dodgy metallic copper shade which I didn't pick up) but now that I know that they are in there, I think I might have to pay a visit every so often to see what else I can find. Oh and for a £1 each, you really can't go wrong!
I also stopped by Boots for my trusty Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover (think Lancome Bi-Facil but for £1.89 instead of £18) and obviously had to peruse the makeup stands too. I skimmed over Revlon and L'Oreal but stopped by Maybelline because I saw that the new Colour Vivid lippies and Colour Show lacquers were on display. Now, when I first heard about the lippies and saw the photos I thought I would be all over them but after swatching them on my hand I wasn't moved at all. The shades are definitely not for my skintone but I did pick up one of the new Colour Show nail polishes in Shock Wave. It's a metallic royal blue with a purple-ish tinge to it and although similar to other shades I have, it found its way into my basket. The gold glitter Barry M polish was just an impulse purchase because I did a quick mental scan while in front of the stand and realised I didn't have a gold glitter like it so it also found its way into the basket.
While I don't really need any new skincare bits, I've also heard good things about La Roche-Posay and the Effaclar Duo in particular and seeing as there was a 2 for £15 offer on the brand, I picked up the Effaclar to go with it. I'm not going to lie, the Effaclar was a confusing purchase because I didn't really know what else to go for from the brand and wanted to make full use of the offer so if anyone has any suggestions then let me know!
Anyway, I'm sure you all want to see what the nail polishes look like so I gave them a quick 2 coat and somewhat messy swatch on my nail wheel:
L-R: Sally Hansen 'Fairy Teal', Sally Hansen 'Green Tea', Sally Hansen 'Lavender Cloud', Maybelline Colour Show 'Shock Wave' and Barry M 'Yellow Topaz Glitter'.
I have no idea on how they will all perform after a couple of days of wear but I'll post individual NOTD posts as and when I use them to give you all an update.
So, what have we learnt from this blog post?
1. Don't be a shop snob. Poundland has some good bargains that even your Boots Advantage card won't give you. IT'S ALL ONE POUND!
2. Do your research on skincare products before you buy them. I'm hoping the Effaclar won't screw with my skin because it does contain SLS.
3. Nail wheels are a bloody great investment!
Have any of you uncovered any really good gems lately? And how many of you are now going to have a poke around your local Poundland?
Until next time...
Keep swivelling those hips in your
I saw the 2 for £15 on the La-Roche Posay stuff today too and wanted to get some sooooo much but they didn't have any effeclar duo left, gutted! :(

Oh and love the Fairy Teal lovely polish one of my faves
ReplyDeletePoundland is always worth a scout every now and then, I've picked up some lovely polishes in the past. I always seem to come out with tons of sweets though which isn't good!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments, ladies!
ReplyDeleteI'm still unsure what the best way is to use the Effaclar Duo, is it a moisturiser? A serum? I bought into the hype and now I'm confused.com!
MoonFairy, I'm jealous of your nailpolish steals from Poundland. I'm going to keep an eye in my local one to see if it turns over any other ones :)
