Happy (delayed) New Year, folks!
I hope you're all well and had a really good Christmas and New Years. I haven't blogged since 28th November, which is practically a year in Blogger World, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
In the time since my last blog post, I've turned 25 (gross), had a fun filled Christmas (so good yet over so soon), seen in the new year (such an overrated night of nothing) and gone back to work (boooo!) and I'm guessing you've all done pretty much the same thing. Well, apart from the turning 25 bit. Unless you have in which case 'Happy Belated Birthday'.
Now instead of telling you what kind of posts I have lined up, I've tried that before and never ended up writing any of them, I'll just make you a deal that I'll try to post on here more often. The last 6 months have literally flown by and there have been loads of things I've come across that I thought I'd blog about but I genuinely couldn't find the words.
I know what you're thinking... 'Couldn't find the words? Isn't she doing the wrong thing then?'
If you're a fellow blogger then you'll know that sometimes you just have to take a step back to appreciate what you do and for a breather. Blogging is such an intense world that it can be quite overwhelming when you have so many expectations to meet. You set yourself goals, your audience expects posts (although they are very understanding when you don't post up as much they'd like you to) and the people that you work with on a daily basis (PR people) patiently wait for the day when you forward them a link of a product review or feature that they can then send on to their client. There's quite a bit of pressure and although I know better than to let the pressure get on top of me, it got a bit like that over the last few months.
I lost the will to blog. Work was getting busier and I had loads going on in my life so the blog, which was my place to waffle, just had to take a back seat. With it went the constant train of emails flooding my inbox from brands asking if I'd like to try their product or from PRs asking if I had received X product and if I would consider writing about it. It was just too much.
That being said, I'm trying to motivate myself. Thank you to all of those who have come back to the blog to read up on past posts or new readers of the blog who have happened to stumble upon it while looking at something else. Hopefully 2013 is a fresh start for me and this blog where I can bring you little nuggets of information about what's going on in the beauty world and new finds that I've discovered along the way.
I can't guarantee that my posts will be coming in thick and fast like so many of my favourite bloggers but I can definitely TRY to get back on the train until it all starts to flow again.
Keep swivelling those hips in your
Totally understand! A break is essential in recharging the batteries. I felt so much better after I took a step back for the best part of 6 months. Write when you feel like it, we understand. Xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck Amrita, sometimes a break is good. But then I only work with a few PR's at the moment so taking a break isn't too scary :)
ReplyDeleteOh and 25! You are a mere baby! I am 33 this year!
ReplyDeleteI feel you. Stick at it and take a breather as and when you need to x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, ladies.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to blog as and when I can... Products and PRs can wait! x
