Winter Lip Saviours

With the crazy rain and window rattling winds that we're having at the moment, my lips have become extremely dry, chapped and sore in the last few weeks. After religiously applying Carmex and Blistex because those are what I usually turn to, I remembered that I had a couple of other products I hadn't tried but are usually raved about so I went digging in my drawers to find my Lanolips Golden Ointment and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick.

I've never really been a fan of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream because the smell was just a little too much for me but the Lip Protectant is a lot more bearable as the scent is hardly noticeable. I know there's a fragrance free version of the Eight Hour Cream but carrying extra products in my bag really doesn't help when I'm already trying to downsize and lighten the weight of my bag. This, on the other hand, is perfect because I can throw it in to my handbag or keep it on my desk and it does exactly what I need it to do. The added bonus of SPF15 just makes it a little bit more sweeter because, don't forget, SPF is a must all year round whether it's in your moisturisers or makeup.

The Lanolips Golden Ointment is my night time lip product as well as my night time brow and lash product. The thick consistency of the balm means that a little goes a long way and actually holds in place all night which is what surprised me most about it. I think everyone has applied a lip balm at night only to wake up the morning and not even feel any different but with this beauty, I actually wake up with some of it still on! Shocking, I know. It might be down to the rich texture or that it is a super moisturiser but I love this for any dry patches on my face, body, hands or feet. It's such a good all rounder and although it's a little heavy and I wouldn't recommend slapping this all over your mug, it is amazing on the lips and applying it through your brows and lashes means they're soft and tamed when you wake up.

You can buy the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant SPF15 from pretty much everywhere and anywhere with an Elizabeth Arden counter or online from Boots, Debenhams or Feel Unique for about £20.00. The Lanolips Golden Ointment is available from Victoria Health for £17.99 - Get them both!

What are your winter saviours? I'm considering doing a few more posts on my winter skincare and makeup favourites and saviours so let me know if there are any specifics you want to know about.

Until next time...
