Some of you may recall a couple of months ago when I did a FOTD and mentioned a new foundation by Maybelline called FitMe? No? Well, you do now and you can see it HERE. Anyway, after being told about FitMe by a client of mine at work (Thanks, Clair!) I had a cousin of mine pick it up for me in New York and bring it back to the U.K with her. Now, it could have gone horribly wrong because I had no idea if the shade would match me or not but an extensive Google search and a million swatch posts later, I decided that Shade 220 was the one for me. I've been using the foundation ever since and am completely converted so you can imagine my joy when I found out that FitMe! is launching in the U.K! Woooohooooo!
The range is made up of 12 shades of foundation, 6 shades of concealer and 6 shades of powder so you can customise the products you pick depending on how you see fit. UK Make-Up Director, Sharon Dowsett, says that "Each concealer shade is designed to perfectly complement at least two of the foundation shades... Two [powder shades] will match your foundation and concealer perfectly." I'm already convinced but I thought I'd get a quick post up for you all so you can see what's coming!
I was sent the foundation, concealer and powder all in Shade 220 so they are all within the same shade group and should blend effortlessly together.
Foundation:
The first thing I noticed here is that they've popped a pump on this version. The bottle I got from the U.S was pump-less so it's messy and a bit of a nightmare if you get too much out of it. Seriously, you should see the state of my bottle from the U.S... It's grubby.
Concealer:
This comes with a sponge tipped applicator which means you'll be able to get right in to the little corners of your nose and undereye area where you might not always do with your fingers. I'd still blend this out with my finger because there are some things that brushes and applicators just can't do as nicely.
Powder:
I quite like the face that this has a flippy inside bit that reveals a decent sized mirror and space for a powder puff (there's also a baby pink Maybelline one in there). I've been after a new pressed powder so I'm definitely looking forward to trialling this one and seeing if it is the best 'fit' for me.
Swatches:
The foundation has a gel-like consistency which can be dangerous on oily skin types like mine but I've been using it for a couple of months and I really like it. My face gets oily regardless of which foundation I use but it's nothing a little blotting with blot paper can't tackle. The concealer seems to be slightly lighter to the foundation so it's perfect for me because I like to have more light in the undereye area, nobody wants it to be dark under there and make it look like you have bigger shadows than you already do. The powder didn't swatch as well and you can just about make it out so this may take a little more effort to work with but I guess the plus side to this is that it won't look cakey or chalky on the skin. That's always a big issue for me when using powders because I hate it when I can tell I have powder on, let alone other people noticing.
So there you have it! A quick run through of the new Maybelline FitMe! products that are going to be on shelves in Boots and Superdrug from October. Not long to go!!!
The foundation will be priced at £7.99 while the concealer and powder will both be £5.99 each - A pretty bargainous price considering the fabulous quality of the products. Make sure you check them out when you get a chance... You won't be disappointed.
Have any of you used this range before? What do you think?
Until next time...
