Review & Swatches: MeMeMe Long Wear Satin Lip Cream

I've never really paid any attention to the MeMeMe stand in Superdrug, mostly because it always looks like a mess and a million other people have had their grubby hands in the products. It also looks like it could go with a good deep clean to get rid of the layer of dust and the fingerprints on all the products, but the general cleanliness of the stand is another story altogether.

I was recently sent a few bits from the brand so I thought I'd do a review of the lipsticks as they definitely caught my eye first. I call them lipsticks but MeMeMe have them listed on their website as 'Long Wear Satin Lip Cream'. If it looks like a lipstick and it smells like a lipstick, it's a lipstick. There's really no need for all the 'long wear' and 'lip cream' business... In my opinion anyway.
The shades I was sent were Coral Cloak, Pashmina Pink, Berry crush and Tuscan Red. I knew from the get go that I was going to love Tuscan Red if the sticker on the bottom was anything to go by but I knew better than to judge a book by its' cover. Or a lipstick by its' label.

First glance:
The packaging is sleek and matte black which makes it look quite high end compared to other High Street brands out there.

A closer look:
Coral Cloak

Pashmina Pink
Berry Crush
Tuscan Red

Swatches:

Besides the fact that Coral Cloak looks more of a tangerine shade to me, the lipsticks themselves are actually quite nice to use and are really pigmented. All of the swatches above are a single swipe so you can imagine how easily they would apply on the lips and you wouldn't need to keep applying because the colour actually lasts. They're all very creamy and moisturising so reminds me of MAC amplified lipsticks but without the MAC price tags. The staying power is actually pretty good too and I found that I only needed to reapply after a couple of hours which is impressive seeing as I wore Tuscan Red to a wedding and spent most of the day eating and drinking.

MeMeMe lipsticks are priced at £8.50 and available from the MeMeMe website or Superdrug stores nationwide.

Are there any other MeMeMe products that I should look at next time I'm in Superdrug? I've heard good things about the nail polishes so maybe I'll start there.

Until next time...

13 stiletto lovers had something to say::

  1. Never tried MeMeMe for the same reasons you've mentioned (general in-store layout) but the swatches are tempting me! Think I'll have to try the Berry Crush, just love a deep juicy berry shade!

  2. They remind me so much of Sleek lipsticks, gorgeous shades!

  3. Thanks for commenting, girls!

Charli, Coral Cloak is a gorgeous shade but I don't think it went with my skintone. I think I'll have to pair it with something else or maybe I needed to try it with a different outfit.. I hate when that happens. x

Lotti A, Berry Crush really is a gorgeous shade and it isn't too dark either so easy to wear in the daytime. x

Sharon, these are similar to Sleek lippies but I think I prefer Sleek ones than these. x

  4. I'm another one who has always walked past the MeMeMe stand. But mostly because I really dislike their font and I'm a bit of a packaging snob. But these do look really lovely. I love the purple shimmer in Berry Crush.

  5. I've never really stopped by the MeMeMe stand either, I don't know why, I was just never drawn to it! I do love the look of Tuscan Red though!

  7. I think the only MeMeMe I have is a nail varnish from aeons back when I wanted a particular blue shade. That Berry Crush looks rather nice, might have to check it out next time I'm shopping.
