Review: Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara

When I first heard Lancome were launching a brand new mascara, my interest piqued. I like Lancome mascaras and I'm pretty sure I have tried every single one at some point or the other with a long time favourite being Hypnose Drama. The newest offering from the brand and addition to the Hypnose family is Star which is inspired by the 1930s silver screen sirens, in particular Betty Boop.

Yes, you read that correctly. Betty Boop, alongside Daria Werbowy, is the face of the new Hypnose Star campaign. They even made a mini movie together:

I was recently sent the mascara to try out so after giving it three weeks of trialling, I thought I'd do a quick post with some photos and a review of what I thought.
I was immediately drawn in to the product because of the glittery plastic tube and I'm pretty sure that this will pull in more women because well, sparkly things always get attention.

Brush:
The brush is a new design for Lancome and it really does work. It is flat and tapered so you can use it at its' widest or at its most narrow edge to give you lashes more volume and lift. If you're familiar with Lancome mascaras then you'll know that all of their mascaras have different styles of brushes so you're likely to find something that you can work with. Like I mentioned earlier, their Hypnose Drama mascara is one of my all-time favourites but it did take me a while to get the right grib on the 'S' shaped brush.

Applied:

I prefer my mascaras to be the blackest of blacks and this is definitely one of those ones as it defined my lashes enough and ensured that they looked full and thick. It applied smoothly and was easy to build on but it most definitely isn't a mascara you can add extra layers to once it has dried because it will go clumpy, however you can layer it on while the base coat is still wet and get your desired look. In terms of longevity, the mascara really does hold up and doesn't lead to any crumbling but this was before the humid weather we've been having in London. Lately, as the sun has been out and there's no moisture in the air, I've noticed the mascara hasn't really been holding up as well as I would have liked it to because it's beginning to crumble and remnants are taking up residence on my oily lids. Not a good look, if you ask me.

As much as I like the mascara, I would probably stick to using it for weddings and the sort where I want my lashes to be volumized and full. I had people ask me if I was wearing falsies which I obviously wasn't, mainly due to my crap application skills, so the mascara is obviously doing something right!

You can buy the new Lancome Hypnose Star at counters nationwide or online from the Lancome website for £21.00.

Have any of you tried this? What did you think of it?

Until next time...
