Review: PixiGlow Tinkerbell Collection

I love Disney. I love DisneyWorld, Disney movies, Disney characters... The lot! However, I'm not sure if I can get with a Disney beauty range. I remember buying a cheapy Disney perfume when I was about 7 at the French ferry port on my way back from Paris and thinking it was the best thing ever invented because the lid was a crown and it has Princess Jasmine on the front... I was wrong, obvs. It smelt like air freshener but at that age, anything Disney was a joy.

Anyway, I digress. A couple of months ago saw the launch of the PixiGlow Tinkerbell collection and I would be lying if I said that I was a little bit excited. I mean, the 10 year old inside me was a little bit excited. The collection is made up of a large face palette, nail polish, lip tint, eye liner, highlighter dust and shadow crayon, all of which are covered in the same whimsical print as the packaging.

PixiGlow Fairy Face Palette - £32.00

The palette houses 5 eyeshadows, 1 blush and 5 lip colours as well as an eyeshadow applicator, lip brush and blush brush so it pretty much has everything that you could need to get ready in a flash.

Shadows:

I swatched these on the back of my hand and was so unimpressed with them. The look great in the pan and the texture seemed nice but once I swatchd them, there was nothing. The top three shadows look like the same thing to me while the bottom two shadows performed a lot better with atleast some colour showing through.

Blush:

I probably would call this more of a highlighter than a blusher because there it isn't very pigmented and very shimmery. I'm a big fan of blushers and love a nice pop of colour on the cheeks but this one just wouldn't cut it for me because there is hardly any colour in there and all of that shimmer would just highlight my pores.

Lip colours:

Now these are products I can work with because they actually do have some sort of colour!!! The lip colours are more of a gloss than a lipstick in a pan but they didn't feel sticky at all and the shades are all really wearable... Well, apart from that baby pink one on the left.

PixiGlow Fairy Dust £10.00

This really reminds me of Miss Popularity by Benefit Cosmetics, which was a precision highlighter that has since been discontinued. The soft tip of the applicator means it is easy to apply in those tricky areas like the inner corner of your eye while the wide edge makes it easy to apply above the brow bone of down the centre of the nose. It's more of a champagne shimmer rather than a pure white so it would suit darker skin tones as well as those with fair skin.

PixiGlow Magic Tink Tint £12.00

A lip tint pen that, when applied, changes to a different shade of pink depending on the pH level of your lips.The tint gives a slightly glossy finish but doesn't feel sticky in any way so it's a nice product to use if you're out and about in the sun but don't want anything too heavy on your lips.



PixiGlow Catching Shadows Crayon £12.00

A shadow crayon that really isn't anything to sing and dance about because it's nothing amazing. If you already own a MAC Shadestick or Maybelline Colour Definer, then this isn't going to be something that you'll need to add to your collection. The texture of the crayon and shade are nice but that's about as far as it goes for me.

PixiGlow Straight on till Morning Liner £9.50

Now this is my favourite product from the whole collection because I didn't have an eye pencil like this in my collection. The soft olive eye liner is full of gold flecks and it looks on the waterline as well as on the lid so if there was anything you wanted to purchase from the collection, I recommend this!

PixiGlow Nail Colour £8.00

What Disney-themed collection would be complete without a bright pink nail polish!? I've not yet tried this one yet because I actually forgot about it but the polish has a gold glimmer running through it which I'm hoping will translate once applied on the nail.

Overall, I'm not too moved by the collection as a whole. The only products that are actually noteworthy for me are the lip tint and the liner, everything else was just a little too sugary sweet and kind of flat for my liking. If you want to pick up a few bits, flutter on over to the Pixi website and add them to your basket.
