NOTD: Barbara Daly Nail Polish in Zest

Hey all.
I'm not going to apologise for the lack of posts lately because that seems to be how I start off now so I'll just go right in to the actual nail polish post. I've been loving bright yellows, greens, blues and oranges as of late and have been trying to avoid the normal red and pink thing as much as I can. It's not that I hate the colours but they are colours that work all year round but all those bright neon shades that look out of place during the colder months hardly get seen so I'm making the most of what I have.
Having never tried any Barbara Daly products before, I thought I'd give one of the nail polishes a try after seeing them featured in countless magazines. For those of you who have never heard of the brand before, it is sold in Tesco supermarkets around the country as their own make up range and includes a full colour line as well as base products and tools.

I've only just noticed their mini nail polishes before and as I didn't own a shade like Zest, a green toned yellow, which I decided to pick it up and this is what it looks like:
Okay, so it doesn't look very "green toned yellow" in the swatch but it actually is and it's such a gorgeous shade. However, the colour is the only good thing about the product because it all goes down hill from there. It took five coats to get the finish you see in the photo and obviously by this time, the nailpolish wasn't even adhering to the nail anymore but just holding on to the coat underneath. Typically, it didn't last very long on the nails and actually started to chip off after less than 24 hours - So unimpressed!

I have no idea if the rest of the nail polishes in the range are similar quality or consistency but I don't plan on spending my pennies finding out.
Have any of you tried the mini Barbara Daly nail polishes before? If you have, what was your experience with them?

You can buy these from Tesco stores for £2.99 each, which is a total rip off in my opinion because you can buy Barry M nail polishes for the same price and the quality is WAY better!

Until next time...

6 stiletto lovers had something to say::

  1. I just did a post the other day about these pastel polishes & a handy tip I discovered for application.
If you use a white basecoat the colour adheres instantly and pops!
It's on my blog if you'd fancy a goo x

  2. I have to say I have not been a fan of the acidic polishes this year. But, I really like this lemon meringue colour. It's a shame that the applications wasn't that great. The colour really suits your skintone. Jude xx @jadlgw

  3. my god, 5 coats?! I'm wayyy to lazy for that!

  4. I'm afraid the Daly polishes are pretty much all the same application-wise. I have this and a few others and they are all pains...

  5. Thanks for all the comments and tips girls.
I definitely won't be venturing in to Barbara Daly nail polish territory again purely because of this one experience. My pennies will be going towards Barry M nail colours which are way better and super cheap.xx
