Show & Tell/Swatcheroonies: Sleek MakeUP Caribbean Collection

There have been blog posts galore at the moment of the Sleek MakeUP palettes that have made their way in to Superdrug. We saw the launch of the limited edition Mediterranean collection a few weeks ago and today was the launch of the new Oh So Special! palette, (you can see swatches over at Vex in The City if you click the link) which is part of the permanent range. The new Caribbean collection is due to launch on 6th July 2011 online and at Superdrug stores and I have no doubt that it will sell out in no time as it is such a gorgeous collection and will come in very handy for the holiday season.

Like all the recent collections from Sleek, the Caribbean collection consists of a 12 shadow palette as well as a blush and pout polish in similar tones. Also, there is a continuous theme with all the products in terms of the imagery/theme which I quite like, especially with the Caribbean collection being all colourful.

The products:
Now you know what I mean about all the products being so colourful and bright.
When I first saw the collection at the Destination S event a couple of months ago, I knew that I had to have this collection purely because I love bright eyeshadows as they come in handy for Indian weddings/parties but the Pout Polish and blush were a tiny bit scary. I've never really strayed far from a pink or coral toned blush so I'm quite interested to see how well I can carry off an orange blush.
The eyeshadows are all named after cocktails which carries on with the holiday theme for the collection and I'm pretty sure we can all relate to having some serious cocktail-induced hangovers while on holiday ;-)

A closer look...

Pout Polish in Bonaire
A very bright orange lip product that really isn't that scary once swatched.

Blush in Aruba
A more louder and orange version of the blush from the Avoir la Peche palette from a few months ago, the blush from the Caribbean collection is definitely going to need a light handed application!

Swatcheroonies:
I swatched both products with a heavy hand so I could show the true colour of each one but once blended out or applied very lightly, there is no doubting that they aren't gorgeous shades. I love the Pout Polish products from Sleek and have started building up a little collection (Does 4 make a collection??) and Bonaire will definitely be loved. The blush will probably look good with a touch of highlight or a shimmer blush layered on top because it feels a bit chalky but there is no doubt that the colour is unique. Although it isn't the first orange blush on the market, it is the first in my collection so I'm looking forward to finding something to pair it with.

i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Curacao
Possibly my favourite colourful Sleek palette, by far!

A closer look at the shades...
Top row (L-R): Tequila Sunrise, Martini, Blue Hawaiian
Bottom row (L-R): Apres Midori, Blue Lagoon, Purple Haze

Swatcheroonies:
I absolutely love Tequila Sunrise, Apres Midori and Martini and can't wait to have some fun with those because the shimmer is so gorgeous. I'm not a fan of matte eyeshadows and find them a bit difficult to work with but it seems Sleek is learning from their mistakes (Chaos palette, anyone?) as Blue Lagoon, Blue Hawaiian and Purple Haze are a lot more silky in texture and don't take a lot of effort to work with.

Top row (L-R): Bloody Mary, Screwdriver, Green Iguana
Bottom row (L-R): Green Martini, Singapore Sling, Espresso Martini

Swatcheroonies:
Again, I am absolutely loving the shimmery goodness of Green Martini, Singapore Sling and Green Iguana because they have a fantastic texture and the pay off is amazing without a primer but the matte shades are impressive too. Bloody Mary is an orange-red shade which might take some working with out of all of the shadows but it is still a lovely colour and will probably look really good when paired with the orange of Tequila Sunrise.

My favourite shades out of the palette are definitely all the shimmer shadows because they are so easy to work with and are really vibrant. I didn't swatch any of the shadows above with a primer so I'm hoping that then they have a good base underneath, they'll be even more eye catching and will really 'pop'.
