FOTD: Sleek & Chic

Like most blog readers, I love FOTD or FOTN (Face Of The Day/Night, for those of you who aren't familiar with the lingo) as it gives you a nose in to the products people use and how well they perform. I always think to myself that I'll post more of them but when it comes round to taking the photos, I suddenly feel like a right wally taking photos with my camera at arms length and posing. Well, not so much posing but more trying not to look like I'm trying too hard and doing that who "smile with your eyes" thing that Tyra Banks is always barking about on America's Next Top Model.
Anyway, yesterday was a crazy day for me and had me running around from one of London to the other, hopping on buses and tubes all day. I knew it was going to be like that so went with really sleek makeup that didn't look out of place at any of my meetings that I had scheduled starting at 10.30am to 3pm.

This is what I looked like and don't laugh at the ridiculous non-posed posing pics!

BASE:
- Benefit Porefessional
- Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation - A mix of Natural (4) and Warm Natural (4.5)
- Bobbi Brown Corrector - Bisque
- Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer - Natural

CHEEKS:
- Illamasqua Powder Blush - Tweak
- Sleek MakeUP Powder Blush - Rose Gold

EYES:
- Natio Liquid Liner - Black
- Paula's Choice Illicit Lash Maximum Impact Mascara
- Maybelline Full & Soft Mascara - Layered on top of my Paula's Choice mascara

I've been dying to do a statement lip for a while now but haven't really been out and about anywhere for me to do it so yesterday was a perfect excuse to do some lip tarting and I love it!!!

LIPS:
- MAC Chromagraphic Pencil - Process Magenta (Available at PRO stores only)
- NARS Pure Matte Lipstick - Carthage

I've never used a NARS Pure Matte Lipstick before but after seeing Carthage at the SS11 bloggers preview, I decided that I was going to venture in to unknown territory and finally try it. Luckily enough, one ended up being sent through to me and yesterday was its' first outing in the world to which it received many compliments. Being a matte formula means that your lips needs to be buffed and moisturised thoroughly or you'll risk the change of dodgy flaking and the lipstick sticking to the dry skin thus making it pretty unsightly. I paired it with the MAC Chromagraphic Pencil as I felt that it would make a good base and help it to stick around longer, which it did. I'm so impressed with this product that I think I'm going to be adding a lot more Pure Matte Lipsticks by NARS to my collection very very soon!

Major thanks to Natasha for inspiring this look... You worked it at the event last week so I figured that I should follow in your footsteps! Haha.

Until next time...

  2. Hi Kia!
You're always the first to comment so thank you so much :)
I've never worn such a bright colour so early in the morning but paired with a pair of jet black sunglasses, I looked like a normal Londoner. LOL!

  4. Was this what you were wearing on Thursday evening? I thought it might be Nars Carthage - Gemma has it and it looks amazing on her too. Great shade.

  5. Sarah, you NEED to own NARS Carthage.. It's such a beauty! The lipstick I was wearing on Thursday was MAC Impassioned because it went with the coral-ish top I was wearing. I did, however, get some very alarmed looks on the tube when I got on because it was a bit bright. Lol.xx

  6. Hi There! I am a fan of bobbi brown and am warm natural in the summer. Right now, I need something lighter and noticed you mixed warm natural with natural. How much do you mix of each? Is the ration a 1 to 1 pump of each foundation? Please let me know! :D
