OK, the title is a bit dramatic, but following a conversation on Twitter with a few other bloggers I came to the conclusion that I may be heading to beauty blogger hell.
Why?
Because I have never owned or swatched a NARS Multiple.
*insert image of YOU with your mouth wide open in disbelief*
The NARS Multiple isn't something that I would classify as a "must have" product but then that could be because I've never tried it. If I had tried it, I might have a few in my posession but seeing as I haven't, well, it's just another beauty product to me.
This got me thinking... There must be quite a few products that are classed as "must have" or "holy grail" or "product of the year" but I've either never gotten around to purchasing them or they just don't excite me. You know... Different strokes for different folks, and all that.
My conversation with Ambarina of Beauty Passionista inspired this post and a similar post on her blog of all the products that create the buzz and are always the 'talk of the town' that I don't own.
DISCLAIMER: Don't hate me once you see the products that I don't own. I'm already going to hell for not having them!
The NARS Multiple
A product that has been around for ages, been featured in countless magazines and received awards by the bucketload but still has never been in my collection. Why? I have no idea!
MAC Mineralze Skin Finish:
Another product that I've heard so much about but have never purchased before. I know a lot of people use MAC MSF's to set their foundation or to add a nice glow but it's not something that draws me in. I've used their other MSF products, namely Stereo Rose and Petticoat, as blushers but the standard MAC Mineralize Skin Finish products are bit *blah* in my opinion.
Liz Early Cleanse & Polish
Now in all fairness I do own this product and have had it stashed away for 4 months now but from the mixed reviews I have read of it, I just don't know whether I want to whip it out and start using it. Some people have said it's the best thing since sliced bread while others have said that it did absolutely nothing for them which has left me a bit lost and in two minds. I know I'll eventually use it but for now it shall remain at the bottom of the box.
Tom Ford Lipsticks
I can't justify spending £35 on a lipstick. Simple. I don't care if it's laced with some magical potion that will make me look like a million bucks, it's just not for me - If anyone wants to give me one for free, drop me an email! Haha.
NARS Blush in Orgasm
Yet another NARS "must have" product that I have never owned. I've swatched the product and thought it was pretty but the sensible person inside me told me that I didn't *need* it so I put it down and went on my merry way. Do I regret it? Not really. People have compared it to Benefit Bella Bamba which I do have and I'm happy with that.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation & Concealer
When Bourjois launched this foundation, it was the talk of the blogging world. Everyone loved it and sung it's praises about how amazing it was and there have even been comparisons to a Chanel foundation but I've never swatched it. Whenever I go to my local Boots or Superdrug, the testers look so grotty and germ-ridden that they put me off completely.
Revlon Photoready Foundation
Apparently the Mac-Daddy of high street foundations because of it's coverage and ability to give a really good finish in photographs, the Revlon PhotoReady Foundation has never tickled my fancy. After hearing of the dreaded "Cullen-Effect" that it gives off, it put me off and I've never looked back.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser
OK, this product I actually was planning on picking up last year while in New York but I completely forgot about it and only remembered while writing this post. I've heard that this is probably one of the best tinted moisturisers out there because of the coverage that gives and it's oil-free formulation make it great for my kind of skin type but I still don't own it. Maybe that "out of sight-out of mind" saying is true after all?!
Shu Uemura Painting Liner
I'm a big fan of the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner and think it really is the best thing since sliced bread so it's going to be hard for any other gel liner to break up that relationship. Recently, I've seen a lot of talk of the Shu Uemura gel liner on Twitter and other blogs so I may invest in it one day but not in the near future. Bobbi Brown is my first love and always will be.
So there you have it!
Those are just SOME of the products that make my list of "must have" products I should own, but don't.
Do you think there are some that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and purchase or am I making a lucky getaway by not having them in my collection? Drop your comments in the box!
Until next time...
Keep swivelling those hips in your
This list pretty much sums up my make up to-buy list :o) I actually placed an order for nars orgasm blush today, so I am excited to scratch that from my (never ending) list :o) xxxx
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I've only tried the Photoready Foundation out of that lot :S NARS 'Orgasm' has so many dupes, it isn't anything special to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI have never owned any of these because there are many products that do the same things as these products. Your still a great fashionista with whatever you use!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go straight to Blogger beauty hell with you if the list is correct.
ReplyDeleteI've two Nars multiples and none of the other products you've mentioned, though I do use Sanctuary's polished hot cloth cleanser, which is quite similar to the C&P.
I'm so glad I'm not googoo over foundation since you have mentioned quite a few 'most talked' about products in that list. Now I'm simply lemming for Orgasm purely because I love the idea of owning more Nars products...
Cassie
love the multiples - a beauty base and staple. just finally got NARS orgasm in a set - ya it is that good. honestly benefit blushes (I've had 3) aren't in the same ballpark.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this post Amrita!! x
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of your views on these and dont have them either **runs away and hides in shame** haha

Ohhhh I want a Tom Ford lipstick SO bad. I'm not gonna lie, the fact that he is a complete babe just makes me want one that little bit more. Such a great post!
ReplyDeletex
Oh you given me some ideas! I think I want just about thing on that list. I would die for that Tom Ford lipstick. xx
ReplyDeletewww.the-glamorous.blogspot.com
NARS Multiple - I have one in Orgasm and to tell you the truth I don't use it much. I prefer MAC's Cream Color bases to be honest!
ReplyDeleteMAC MSF - I do enjoy using these, but in my opinion you can probably get away with just owning 1 or 2! Maybe a cool tone MSF and a warm tone MSF to go with different makeup looks you do :)
NARS Orgasm blush - I have had, and have sold this product. I think it's nice and will suit many skin tones. I hear the new Benefit blush is a bit of a dupe as far as color goes, and I find Benefit has a longer wear time than NARS blushes do on my skin.
Revlon PhotoReady - Eh. That's all I have to say. haha
Wow I sound pretty negative about all the products on this list I have tried! lol Overall I just don't think they good, but not worth the insane hype surrounding them!
I look forward to hearing your opinion if you end up purchasing anything!
xx

Oops.. * I think they ARE good, but not worth the hype!!

Great post to be honest i only own the Mac Msf's out of your whole list so i guess i will be joining you in beauty blogger hell! lol
ReplyDeletei agree entirely, glad you said it. i just do not get the bourjois healthy mix hype. plus i prefer to read blogs without all these same reviews on! i love nars, but those multiples look...i dunno...tacky! xxxx
ReplyDeletei'm at blogger hell with you hon. i have no desire to own Nars Multiple or MAC MSF x I do have a couple of the others tho :)
ReplyDeleteI have all but three of these products! (I wouldn't spend £35 on a lippy either) And I have to say that they're all FAB... :-)
ReplyDeletexx
haha i love this post! I have tried a few and honestly, the multiples aren't that great.....they don't last more than a couple hours! On the other hand, the MSFs are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love all these comments!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that quite a lot of us are on our way to beauty blogger hell. Haha.
Actually, scratch that... We're just the smart ones who don't give in to peer pressure ;-)
Are there any products (out of that list) that I really do "need"??
xx
I've never owned a Nars Multiple either, well, maybe a long time ago, I tried it and it wasn't for me and my work, so no hardship. I'm still alive and well with arms open to try lots of products but not capable of loving everything!
ReplyDeleteI bought healthy mix a couple of days ago and its rubbish!
ReplyDeleteOrgasm is surprising though. I did a whole blog post about how it didn't deserve the hype. Then found myself reaching for it all the time so had to do another blog post LOL. Its just easy to wear. x
Nadira, I think you're right in that there are just way too many beauty products out there to love and own every single one of them. It's just about finding those that work and showing them love! x
ReplyDeleteCharlie, is it really crap? It might be one of those Marmite products that I will probably have to try out to see. I got colour matched to a Sleek foundation today at the event so I'm tempted to see how that one works for me! I've got the Sleek 'Rose Gold' blush, Bourjois 'Rose D'or' blush and Benefit 'Bella Bamba' blush... Now, do I really NEED Orgasm too!?! Haha
xx
Ha love this post! Especially the name!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the Bourjois and Revlon foundation or the painting liner! I think I'm going to hell too! xx
LOVE this post! Here's my 2 cents:
ReplyDelete-The NARS multiples are good, not great. I have "Copacabana" and it's very pretty, but I don't find myself using it very often.
-MAC Mineralize skinfinish is a holy grail product of mine. I use it every day, whether it be over foundation or on its own. It totally evens out my skin and makes me look flawless. I'm obsessed.
-Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is a bit thick for my taste.
Aaaand I couldn't agree with you more on the Tom Ford lipsticks. I'm all about a good splurge but that just seems a little ridiculous to me, especially when I'm sure there are so many dupes out there!
Again, i LOVED this post!! xoxo
Am now following and absolutely love your blog! I'm having a beauty blog hop so we can connect the beauty blogger community. Come check it out!

Thanks for all the comments.. It seems that the MAC Mineralise SkinFinish is a big favourite so I may just have to pick that one up when I get a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on another post at the moment which will require all of your input so look out for it :)
xxx
