Show & Tell: Michael Kors Very Hollywood - Scented Pen & Fragrance

Hi all.

I came home from a long day at work to find a few parcels that had made their way to my house and amongst them was this beauty...
The Michael Kors Very Hollywood Signature Scented Pen

Having heard about this over on BritishBeautyBlog back in January, I was slightly intrigued to see what this would be like but forgot about it until it fell through my letterbox today and I actually got it have a play around and investigate if it is just another biro.

The pen comes encased in a quilted gold box which I thought was a nice touch as it could have come in a bogstandard plastic case... But then again, if you're paying £20 for a pen, it bloody better come in a fancy box. Lol.

And this is what the pen looks like...
The front half of the pen is encased in coral leather and the top part is gold with Michael Kors embossed in the side. Doesn't look half bad, does it?

In all fairness, the pen is basically a black biro wrapped in leather and made to look all fancy looking... But then you get whiff of the Very Hollywood fragrance and you realise that it's a very special black biro. As soon as I opened the gold quilted case, I could smell it. That sweet mix of mandarin, black currant and neroli wafted out of the box and as first I thought it was because I had just spritzed myself with the perfume.
The real test of the scented ink was after I had actually used the pen to write and I'm happy to report that it passed. While writing, I couldn't smell anything but after I had finished it was evident that the ink is definitely scented and it's quite strong, at that. It's definitely not your average gel pen kind of fruity scent but it's a mature perfumed scent... If that makes sense.

Do I think it's worth it? Probably not.

At £20 a pop, the scented pen is not something I would use on a daily basis to jot down quick notes in my Filofax but if I suddenly feel the urge to write someone a love letter, then I will be whipping this badboy out in a flash.

If you are thinking about having a little splurge, then you might as well go the whole way and add the Very Hollywood Michael Kors Sparkling EDT to your list. It's a step up from the normal Very Hollywood fragrance packaging because it's completely spangled out with gold glitter in the glass so it definitely sparkles.

Very Hollywood Signature Scented Pen is priced at £20.00 and is exclusively available from Michael Kors boutiques in London.

Very Hollywood Michael Kors Sparkling EDT is priced at £30 for 30ml, £42 for 50ml and £60 for 100ml and is available from all good perfume halls and stores.

Will any of you be splashing out on the scented pen or be putting it on your post-Valentine's wishlist?

Until next time...

  3. Great post :) I'm not 100% sure on the perfume, so I think I will have to investigate further before parting with £20 for a scented pen! :)

  6. Thanks for the comments girls... I do think that £20 is a touch overpriced for a biro and definitely think it would have been a lot better if it was a cartridge pen or something as it would have made it look and feel more luxurious.

The perfume is a very sweet scent so not something that I would wear every day but I can see it being used a lot more during the Summer months.xx

  7. Love the idea, although not sure I'd spend £20 on the pen, it would make a nice present though. The fragrance sounds really nice x
