MAC & Nicki Minaj Go Pink 4 Friday

Hey lipstick lovers!

So, Friday 26th November saw the release of the much hyped MAC lipstick 'Pink Friday' which was a collaboration between the MAC bigwigs and U.S R&B/Hip Hop artist, Nicki Minaj. The venture was oh so cleverly named Pink 4 Friday. Genius, right?

Anyway, with MAC being experts in producing limited edition products there had to be some sort of catch and that's exactly what they done. The lipstick is only going to be available for 4 Fridays from the 26th November and online online from the MAC site and the Selfridges site in the U.K. I managed to snag myself one from the MAC site at midnight (I promise I wasn't waiting around for it!!!) and it got delivered to me this afternoon.

This was the first time I'd ordered anything from MAC online so was plesantly surprised to see a dinky sample of their Pro Eye Makeup Remover.

So my first impression when I twisted up the lipstick to admire the bullet was the colour. When I swatches on Temptalia a couple of weeks ago, I didn't like it. It looked kind of *meh* with a dash of *blah* but when I saw it for myself, it looked the opposite. I kind of liked it.

Now I know after everyone saw the swatches of Pink Friday on Temptalia and when she compared to other MAC lipsticks in the permanent range, everyone was king of sceptical. I know I was. I don't own 'Snob' or 'Saint Germain' (both of which have a striking similarity to 'Pink Friday') but I do own Viva Glam Gaga and Of Royalty from the Fabulous Felines collection.

Although they do look similar to Pink Friday, Viva Glam Gaga and Of Royalty are a lot lighter in colour and have less blue which, in my opinion, makes them more wearable during the day.


Pink Friday:

I'm not sure if this is really my thing because I had to tone it down a little by blotting it out and then blending it out with my fingers. When I first put it on straight from the bullet with a heavy hand, it looked absolutely horrendous so I wouldn't recommend anyone try doing that. It is a Satin finish which isn't my favourite MAC lipstick finish because I feel like it's a bit drying and I tend to opt for Lustre's or Cremesheen finishes.

Do I think this is a must-have lipstick? No.

Yes, it is a limited edition product and probably won't come out again. Yes, the fact that it's only available on Fridays until 17th December makes women want it more.

BUT....

It's not an amazing product and there are better shades of pink out there.

The 'Pink Friday' lipstick is priced at £12.50 online at MAC and Selfridges and will only be available on both sites on the following dates: Friday 3rd December, Friday 10th December and Friday 17th December.
