How To Get Thicker & Softer Hair

Hi Guys.

Hope you're all doing well. I've been meaning to do this 'How To...' post for a few days now so thought I'd better do it before I totally forget.
The idea came about during a normal twitchat with one of my girlfriends on Twitter... @crazylaus (Follow her.. Her tweets are funny!). Anyway, she was twittering about what is a good intensive hair masque or hair conditioner to use that will give her a lot more body and less of the dryness.
Now, I'm not a big fan of the intensive hair masques out there... Mainly because I find that they're heavily perfumed and did more damage to my hair than good so I set out on a mission to find a better and cheaper alternative.
The answer is OLIVE OIL!

I know what you're all thinking... "Olive oil?? Is this girl nuts??"

Well, I am quite nuts, but I'm sure you've all figured that out by now! :)

Olive oil is probably one of the BEST products I've tried in my hair. I've done the lot... Mayonnaise (Someone recommended it to me and it did make my hair soft but the smell wasn't something that I could deal with). I've also tried beer but that just made me smell like a nightclub floor. The list goes on... Blah blah blah.

Being an Indian, my mum always has hocus pocus answers for everything and every ailment. Let me know if you need a cure for something.. I'm sure she'd have something up her sleeve! Haha.

Now I'm rambling. Back to the topic at hand. Olive oil is not just for cooking!
You don't need to race out to Boots or Superdrug or any other drug store. Just pop to the grocery shop or supermarket and pick up some good ol' olive oil.

What you need to do is:

1. Get a small dessert bowl and fill it half with olive oil
2. Warm it up in the microwave. Not too hot because you don't want to scald your scalp!
3. Put some in your hands and start massaging your scalp.

I know it sounds really icky and messy but its suprisingly not... Just make sure you're wearing something thats you wouldn't mind getting oily because oil stains are a pain to get out!

4. Work your way through your whole head. You don't need to section areas off. Just make sure your working it in to your scalp and down to your tips. By the end of it you should have a head full of oil!

FYI, the best time to do this would be evening or on a night where you're not leaving the house.. Theres no way I would leave my house with a greaseball head of hair!

5. Once you've used up all the oil. Tie your hair into a bun or just plait it. You don't want to leave it open because you need to cover your hair. I usually use a bandana or headscarf to do this but just use whatever you can.

6. Keep the covering over your hair all night and wash your hair the next day using your normal shampoo and conditioner.

THATS IT!

I do this atleast once a week or once every other week. My hair started thinning out from the crown which got me worried so I turned to the oil and now my hair is thicker and so super soft its unbelievable!

Anyway, I just thought I'd share this little bit of information with you guys. Softer and silkier and thicker hair never hurt anyone!

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Take care my hunnies and remember...
